Wow! My big book talk in Columbia, Missouri, is almost here–it’s tomorrow, Saturday, February 1st. This will be the first ever Osher Book Talk. Up until the end of 2013, the local venue was the Boone County Historical Society, and the talks were known as the Saturday Morning Book Talks.
One of the negatives about a book talk during winter months is that weather can throw a wrench in the plans. And, as luck would have it, a Winter Weather Advisory predicting snow-sleet-ice has been issued for tonight through tomorrow evening. Yikes! Well, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the storm will miss our area. So, if you can make it to my book talk, I would love to see you there.
The sponsor of my book talk is Author Keija Parssinen, Quarry Heights Writers’ Workshop. The administrators for the book talks have a full schedule of local authors lined-up: Wayne Anderson, Laura McHugh, Gladys Swan, Walter Bargen, Bryan Haynes, J.D. Robinson, James Austin, M.D., Nina Furstenau, Dan Viets, and Marlene Lee.
As before, the doors will open at 9:15 A.M. and refreshments (baked goods and coffee) will be available. The book talk begins at 10:00 and will last one hour.
I would love to see you there. If you’ve already read my book, In the Shadows: An Outsiders Mystery, you can still come and participate in the discussion. I would love to do a long Q &A.
The new Venue’s location: The Osher classrooms and the Book Talk venue is at the top of Hillcrest Dr. and that is easy to find. Hillcrest is about 1/4 mile south of E. Stadium Blvd on Old Hwy 63, just south of U.S. Rents shop at the corner of Old Highway 63 and E. Stadium Blvd. If you come from Hwy. 63 or from Stadium Blvd. going through campus, you come downhill to the corner with a Breaktime on the northeast and the U.S. Rents on the Southeast and you turn (south) toward the old Sky-High Drive In Theatre. Go about a quarter mile, turn left at Hillcrest Dr. (blacktop) and drive up to the top of the lane (about 200 yards) and turn into the 80 space parking lot.
